Our client wanted their Top Management to experience what is required to achieve cohesion within a team and at the same time to get practical stimuli on how to face market changes and related challenges.
We have designed a two-days training programme during which delegates have managed all the activities required to steer two sailing-boats in the Venice lagoon.
M&D trainers, flanked by the famous sailor Giovanni Soldini, have debriefed the experience to call attention on the management of people, the constant look at the “field”, the commitment, the courage and the ability to accept challenges.
Sailing and company life have a lot of things in common: the need for leadership, followership, strategy, risk taking and problem solving, goal setting and action taking.
Since not all people are keen on sea or sea-sailing, we design programmes that are challenging but not extreme: understanding how to cope with market turbulence does not necessarily require sailing when the sea is very rough so as effective teamwork does not occur only when people sleep together on a boat.
